Millwood Kindergarten and West Valley Early Learning Center students are not allowed to exit a school bus until a parent or guardian is present. Written permission must be provided to the bus driver if someone else is to meet the child at the stop. This also applies if a sibling is to be allowed to take the child from the bus. If no authorized person is present to meet a child at the bus stop, the procedures below will be followed:
A.M. Students on Mid-Day Take Home: The driver will notify the Transportation Department office of the child’s name and bus stop location. The child will remain on the bus and the bus will not return to the stop. The office will notify the school that the child is still on the bus and the time that the child is expected to arrive at the school. The school office will contact the parent or guardian.
P.M. students: The driver will notify the Transportation Department office of the child’s name and bus stop location and the expected arrival time at the Transportation Department. The child will remain on the bus and the bus will not return to the stop. Upon completion of the route, the child will be brought to the Transportation Department at 7205 East Mission, (adjacent to Seth Woodard Elementary), (509) 922-5467. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to pick up the child from the Transportation Department by 4:30 p.m. If someone other than the parent/guardian will pick up the child, the parent/guardian must send a permission note with that person or call the Transportation Department.
NOTE: If a parent/guardian contact has not been made by 4:30 p.m., the office will contact the appropriate authorities for assistance.
