The West Valley Alumni Association met on October 7, 2014. Attending were Pat VanDiver, Garry and Cheryl Richards, Gloria Frasier, Cathy Presta, Shirley Ahern, Dallas and Dorothy Palmer, Deloris Hickey and Les Rurey Meeting was called to order by President Wally Heidenson at 7:00 pm at the WV High School. Wally noted that Dave Jordan had passed away and that we need another person to sign on the bank account to write checks. Pat Vandimere accepted. It was voted and passed.
Treasure's report given by Cathy (Pobst) Presta. We currently have a little over $6000 (?) in our account. With the fact that mailing and printing costs keep going up, and our donations have shrunk, we are no longer bringing in nearly enough to cover the expense of the mailings. The cost of a mailing would be about $2500 which would leave about $3500 or so in our account if we choose to do a mailing. It was discussed and voted upon to send out one last mailing which would leave enough residual funds for any future event
Information that should be put on the mailing was discussed and input was noted. Wally is putting together a post card style notice to go out to the Alumni saying that due to increase of printing and mailing costs, the increased use of social media, and decreasing donations, it is no longer feasible to put out an annual letter. The card will include information for future donations and the purchase of pavers. We voted to keep the Post Office box we have had for at least one to two more years.
Wally noted that he keeps the WVAA website updated and that we now have a facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/WestValleySpokaneAlumni
All should go to the site and click “Like” to keep up on current information about the alumni activities. We have an oil stock worth about $1500.00. It was voted and 2nd that we cash the stock and put into our bank savings account.
Meeting was adjourned 8:00 pm
