West Valley School District March 26, 2021 Update

Hello West Valley Families,

Late yesterday afternoon, Governor Inslee announced updates to the physical distancing guidance in schools. The distance requirements between students have been reduced from 6 feet to 3 feet (some exceptions are identified in the Department of Health Update). Over the next few days, principals will be working closely with staff to draft plans for the new guidance. Proposed plans will be presented next week to the WVSD School Board for approval before implementation and communicated to families along with a Community Connections webinar (listed below).

Pending WVSD School Board approval, we will be communicating more detailed plans regarding the timeline of the modifications to in-person learning. Students will continue to have the option to remain 100% virtual.

Community Connections Webinar

We will host a Community Connections Webinar on Wednesday, March 31st at 5 pm. The webinar will: (1) outline the timeline and details of the updated plans, and (2) provide information related to HIV/AIDS instruction for this school year. The webinar will also be broadcast live on Facebook.

We take the health and safety of our students, staff, families, and community very seriously. Many WVSD staff members have taken the opportunity to get vaccinated and we are excited to see the continued access of vaccines to more eligible groups. Thank you for your continued partnership as we have navigated this difficult year together.
