First days and Friday late arrival

The first day for the majority of West Valley schools is Wednesday, August 26, while kindergarten students start on Monday, August 31 (due to family launch conferences). In order to allow for staff collaboration and training, most WVSD schools will start an hour later on Fridays. Buses will run an hour later in the morning on these days. School supplies

Supplies needed to start school

The district will provide basic supplies for in-person elementary students during the 2026-27 school year. Families will only be responsible for a student's backpack and lunch box. Certain schools and teachers may request additional items, but the bulk of basic supplies will be provided by the district.

Middle school supply lists can be found on their respective school websites. High school supplies are based on the classes that students enroll in, so students will find out from teachers once school begins. If your family needs assistance with supplies, please reach out to your student’s school.

Riding the bus?

If your student needs school bus transportation for the upcoming school year, we ask that you provide information by completing a form here. Please allow the Transportation Department 3-5 school days to process new registrations. Official confirmation and bussing details will be sent via ParentSquare and email. If you believe your student might qualify for the Special Services bus, please contact the Special Services Department directly.

We recognize that the construction along Argonne Avenue will cause some delays to pick-up and drop-off of students to schools in those areas. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we do our best to mitigate the ongoing changes. For more information, email [email protected] or visit the Transportation webpage.
