Eagles earn Sportsmanship Award

Congratulations to WVHS basketball players George Fisher and Navaeh Sherwood for being awarded a Pullman High School Sportsmanship Certificate. After each game a panel of observers choose a visiting athlete who exemplifies good sportsmanship. Great job Eagles!

School Board To Hold Budget Meeting

Like most school districts in Spokane County, and many across the state, West Valley is readjusting its budget to account for the state's new formula for school funding and restrictions on local levy collections. Staff and district patrons are welcome to attend this public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, in the board room at Millwood School. In addition Superintendent Sementi will visit every school and department in early February to share and discuss the school funding information.

Career Connected Learning opportunities across Washington State have been a critical component of the educational experience for high school students. DHHS student Reneece Bailey attended a legislative hearing recently in support of legislation to expand the program and to share her experience as a participant in the Avista Energy Pathways Summer Program.

Heather Wright was honored at the recent Valley Chamber of Commerce Gala as Teacher of the Year from West Valley School District. In her 10 years at Centennial Middle School she has earned many accolades and earned tremendous respect from her colleagues, students and district personnel.
