Superintendent's Message

Kyle RydellWelcome to the 2023-24 School Year!

We are excited to welcome students and staff back to the West Valley School district for the 2023-24 school year!  We remain committed to serving the 3,384 enrolled students as well as the 500+ staff members who partner with families to provide the best possible education for students. We are pleased to offer free meals for all students, as well as basic school supplies for elementary and middle school students. This is all in addition to the high-quality instruction along with the myriad of activities and long-standing traditions our schools offer!

As we look forward to the coming school year, our focus remains centered on providing a safe and caring culture, success for all, and community engagement. WVSD offers a variety of high-rigor programs that accommodate the needs of students and their families. Each of these unique pathways reinforce our emphasis to engage every student, every staff member, our families and our community.

There are so many things that make West Valley special, but one of the crucial aspects that makes us unique is strong relationships. The connections we have among staff, students, families, businesses, non-profit organizations and community stakeholders foster a sense of belonging; something we work hard at establishing within our schools and the district. We will continue this year to strengthen these relationships and honor the voices of the students and staff.

One way we have gathered input from our community is through the Community Facilities Advisory Committee that has been meeting for over a year to evaluate the needs of the district and discuss possible future facility improvements. The committee represents a diverse group of stakeholders within our district including administration, staff, students, parents, consultants and community members. You can learn more about what has been discussed as well as our project priorities that are being proposed to the school board for a February 2024 bond by visiting our website

We appreciate you joining WVSD in the journey as we strive to fulfill the following mission: Each West Valley student will have a Rigorous and Relevant education achieved through strong Relationships to maximize readiness for College, Career and Citizenship.

Thank you for your partnership and support as we work together toward this mission. Our future is bright in West Valley!
