Capital Projects Completed

In 2021, the West Valley community approved the Capital Levy replacement. This three-year levy must be renewed by voters and stays in our community to support West Valley students. Levies generate a set amount of revenue to the district each year of their three-year term.

What West Valley Has Done

The 2021 replacement Capital Projects Levy is $1.45 per $1,000 assessed property value in 2024 and is used to fund for technology, safety, security and facilities.

Each January, the district assesses facilities needs and makes a plan for the projects to be completed that year. Here’s what we’ve accomplished with the 2021 Capital Levy:

2021-22 School Year

  • Facilities Updates: Made repairs and updates to the HVAC systems at Seth Woodard and Pasadena Park elementary schools and replaced the gym floor at West Valley High School.
  • Instructional Technology: Purchased computers and equipment for engineering and robotics classes, and kitchen equipment for culinary arts classes at West Valley High School
  • Safety and Security: Added secure entrance vestibules at Ness Elementary and Dishman Hills High School

2022-23 School Year

  • Technology and Infrastructure: Updated internet infrastructure in four schools, updated the smartboards, projectors and technology licenses for every middle school classroom, and updated the internet and student data security programs
  • Facilities Updates: Made repairs and updates to the HVAC systems at Ness and Orchard Center elementary schools and replaced the gym floor at WVHS
  • Safety and Security: Purchased new security cameras and added badge readers for secure entrances at seven schools

2023-24 School Year

  • Facilities: Replaced half the roof at West Valley High School and added classroom space at Pasadena Park and Ness Elementary Schools to accommodate for kindergarten students in the fall of 2025
  • Safety and Security: Camera replacements in schools

The state does not pay for building repair or maintenance. School districts rely on voter-approved levies and bonds to fund these projects. This funding stays in our community and directly supports West Valley students.
